I will be one of the opening lecturers for the Body Mind Spirit Expo November 1-2, 2014!  I went to the BMSE a few years ago and always in the back of my mind, planned to have a booth someday.  I'm so excited to try something new this fall!

I'd love to see you!  Make sure you stop by the Okamura Farmacopia booth #201 for hands-on chakra balancing demos, FREE make up touch ups, and lotions/potions galore to spray, sample and mindfully spa it out.  : )

Chakra Balancing

Call me old fashioned, but the moment someone tells me "I'm a spiritual healer", it's my first clue they're probably not. There are a lot of those in Portland, we may be the woo-woo capital of the world.  Blessed be, keep Portland weird.

A friend from Suriname and I were talking about intuition and he said, "You must listen to life."  It really struck me, this idea of listening.  I also try to listen to that little voice (yes, yes, among all the voices in my head) to guide my treatments. That little voice is ALWAYS right. I'll feel a little psychic tug just before I pull someone's skin off during a waxing (thank goodness it doesn't happen often! And yes, they signed the waver...) I'll ask them, then they say, "Oh yeah, I just started using Retin A." That little voice is always right--I must actively practice listening to life.

Everyone has a degree of clairvoyance, clairaudience, or clairsentience.  I don't think it has anything to do with religion, but to each her own. I see it as some people can sing, some can dance, some have the touch, or the sight, or the hearing.

I have a little of all three, but clairsentience is the strongest.  If I touch you I feel things.  I know it's weird, I don't like people to touch me unrequested.  I'm not trying to be unfriendly, it's just too much information.

From my experience, when my hands get hot touching someone, especially during massage, that's the ticket. It's great to feel when I see massage therapists, in my opinion, those hot handed people are the best.  I can feel energy imbalances through the temperature of skin, it's not rocket science.  Can I do anything about it?  You'd have to ask my clients.

In 2009 I took a Barbara Brennan class in Chakra Balancing.  In 2012 I took a Donna Eden class in Energy Medicine.  Two classes do not an expert make!  However, I have been practicing the techniques I learned on a daily basis with beneficial results.

Chakra Balancing

Chakra is Sanskrit for "wheel, disc or turning".  Chakras are energy centers in our spiritual body.  Our chakras put out seven or eight colors, depending on who you talk to.

Medical Intuitive Carolyn Myss talks about our biography being our biology.  Our cells retain the memories of our lifetime and respond accordingly.  Our lifestyle choices affect chakras--stress, poor diet, alcohol, drugs, and tobacco weaken chakras, as do lack of exercise, fresh air, sleep and s-e-x.

Can I fix your chakras?  No, I need to practice and learn more.  I can energize or relax the chakra temporarily.  I can make you aware of your energies, but long term the change is ultimately up to you.  Proper diet, exercise, meditation, yoga, aromatherapy, breathing, seeing a professional--you must find your own way.

In addition to making your skin look great, Okamura Farm's aromatherapy toners  are designed to aid chakra balancing.  The colors of the label correspond to chakra color.

Can I balance chakras through the internets?  OOh, I'll work on this next.

Love, Sherry

PS.  I include chakra balancing in my  Hydrate  and Deep Pore Cleanse Facials.  Feel free to request it a la carte!

Welcome to Okamura Farmacopia!

I became a licensed esthetician 2005 and six months later began work at Urbaca Salon in Portland, Oregon.  With a passion for more natural, results-oriented skin care, I am honored to interact with extraordinary people on a daily basis.  From wonderful coworkers to pillars of Portland industry, curious tourists and beyond!  It's a hoot.
In 2009 I trained in the American Cancer Society's Look Good Feel Better program.
In 2011 they found a lump in my right breast but fortunately, with continued monitoring, it is not cancerous.
Making educated decisions about product ingredients intensified and continues.

In the summer of 2011 I launched Okamura Farmacopia: paraben, sulfate and cruelty free skin care for all.
I hope you enjoy these products and am always open to your feedback!
Thank you for reading!
